Snake Bite Time of Year Again
Snake Bite Time of Year Again
About 300 people are bitten by a snake every year in Australia, but on average only one or two of these bites prove fatal. About half of all deaths from snake bites are from the brown snake, while the rest are mostly from tiger snakes, taipans and death adders.
If you or someone you’re with is bitten by a snake it is important to try to identify it if possible, as this allows a snake specific anti venom to be administered. Information on identifying snakes can be found on the What Snake Is That? website.
