Big Valley Camping Trip More photos of Big Valley
The trip to Big Valley this year was the fourth in so many years. Thirty Five club members attended the three day meet, which officially commenced on the Friday 20th November, however some of the clubs retiree’s managed to arrive from Wednesday onwards, unfortunately picking some of the worse weather experienced over the weekend.
Saturday commenced with the options of two trips, one run by Chris to Boranup Beach the other run by Roger to Quininup Falls. Both runs were well attended and participants enjoyed the less than difficult conditions. Returning to camp a number of members participated in the hit and hope golf nine hole tournament. This was continued over a two period with members achieving some competitive scores, especially as the fields were occupied with sheep and their considerable waste products.
Winners of the competition were the husband and wife team
of Colleen and Chris, with very credible scores of net 26 and 25
respectively. Saturday night entertainment this year was in the form of a charade based game that was played with a spirit that surprised most. No winners this year but referee Roger declared the game a draw at a point that discretion was the better part of valor. Sunday saw members driving out to visit various Margaret River venues, sampling wines, chocolate, coffees and craft. The arranged lunch time venue was at the Bootleg Brewery which provided a wholesome meal and taste ales at reasonable prices.
Our thanks go to Shelly and Kevin of Big Valley fame, who again made us most welcome and catered for all our needs. We look forward to another trip next year, hopefully as well attended .
